Singer in Stable Condition Following Emergency Surgery
Singer Kendji Girac, known for his hits "Color Gitano" and "Andalouse," was hospitalized early Monday morning after being shot under unclear circumstances. Despite the severity, his manager Hakim Nassouh confirmed on Tuesday that Girac is "doing well" and "out of the woods." The 27-year-old artist underwent surgery at the Haut-Lévêque hospital center in Pessac, where he was admitted in serious condition but conscious. The surgery was successful, addressing a bullet wound in the chest that protruded out the back.
Investigation Underway, Singer Describes Shooting as Accidental
The Mont-de-Marsan prosecutor, Olivier Janson, indicated that the case is being investigated as "attempted intentional homicide." However, Girac has described the incident as accidental, reportedly occurring while he was handling a newly purchased 11 caliber automatic pistol. As of Tuesday afternoon, Girac had not yet been formally interviewed by authorities, pending medical clearance to ensure his ability to participate in the investigative process.
Upcoming Concert Canceled, Further Updates Expected
Due to the incident and his current health status, a concert scheduled for Friday in Marseille has been canceled. Further updates from Girac's team are expected to be communicated in due time.
