VIDEO. United States: Motorists rescue man trapped in burning car

Dramatic Crash and Rescue Effort Captured on Dashcam

On April 18 in Saint Paul, Minnesota, a group of quick-thinking motorists rescued a 71-year-old man from his burning SUV after he crashed into a lamppost and became trapped by the guardrail. The rescue was dramatically captured on the dashcam of Kadir Tolla, one of the rescuers.

Rescue Efforts Thwarted by Flames and Guardrail

Initial attempts to open the SUV's door were unsuccessful as the vehicle quickly caught fire. Rescuers tried to break the window with an object found on the road, but were initially unable to due to the intensifying flames.

Successful Breakthrough and Rescue

A road worker finally managed to break the window, allowing rescuers to pull the man to safety just moments before the flames engulfed the front seat of the vehicle. The man, identified as Sam Orbovich, credited the group of good Samaritans and professional first responders with saving his life, highlighting their bravery for risking their safety.

Aftermath and Health Update

Despite the harrowing experience, Orbovich suffered no serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. The incident also caused a grass fire, which was quickly contained by firefighters.
