Tragic Incident at Blois Funfair Leads to Manager's Indictment

Woman thrown from a ride in Blois: the fairground indicted

Manager Charged After Fatal Accident on Ride

Two days following the tragic death of a 27-year-old woman at a funfair in Blois (Loir-et-Cher), the ride's manager was indicted for involuntary manslaughter and endangering lives, as announced by the Blois public prosecutor's office. The incident occurred when the safety barrier of the "pinball machine" ride unexpectedly opened, leading to the woman being ejected.

Details of the Incident and Manager's Indictment

The victim was thrown from the ride on Saturday evening and succumbed to her injuries after being thrown onto a truck trailer and falling to the ground. The 28-year-old manager, who also owns the ride, was taken into custody and later placed under judicial supervision, prohibited from continuing his professional activities. The ride has been sealed and is under investigation for potential mechanical failures and maintenance issues.

Funfair Closure and City's Response

Following the accident, which happened shortly after the funfair opened on March 30 and was scheduled to close on April 21, the Blois Exhibition Center funfair was immediately shut down. The city of Blois, emphasizing its commitment to safety, stated that it conducts additional voluntary checks on the funfair installations each year, despite already existing regulatory controls. The city expressed its condolences and solidarity with the victim's family during this difficult time.
